Makeover Monday - Part 1

Check out our first real estate Makeover Monday! This transformation is still wowing us every day.
This makeover was a project on our home and was in the 'talk about' stages for many years but the timing was never right or something happened to push it back (kids being born, the county messing up on our septic, COVID). We were finally at a place where it could be done and we could not be happier that we did it. Our 24x32 ranch with a 10x12 mudroom was the living space for a family of 4 - luckily we had a finished basement where the bedrooms resided. It was small - it was supposed to be a 5 year starter house....but we had been then 20 years when we began the project.
Oh, and before we begin...we did not move out of the house during this project and endured every soundbite from the tools whizzing or pounding, every flake of sawdust, every nail left on the floor, drywall dust and mud, packing up our lives, emptying out rooms and living in even smaller spaces, as well as the exciting parts of products being delivered, and watching it unfold and come together.
We added 1,488 square feet to our shoebox house, in not one, but two additions. The transformation was amazing to see. The crawlspace and the first floor addition happened first and just months prior, we had been mowing that part of the yard. The second floor addition came next and it was amazing to see happen. In JANUARY...the original roof was removed in sections and covered up as they worked. Once that was all set - a period of 3-4 days, the trusses were already onsite and were built in two sections on the ground. A crane lifted each section up and set it on the joists that were added between the original structure and the new. The roof was attached and everything was dried in. There was so much that went into this project and I would love to share it all with everyone! It isn't finished yet though so this is to be continued...
